Petrified wood is stone created by the natural action of minerals replacing decomposing wood. It takes millions of years to become 'petrified'. The most beautiful and colorful is agatized wood.

These consist of polished stones such as Onyx, Aventurine, Agate, Jasper and other semi precious stones. This may also include faceted gems such as Amethyst, Garnets, Aquamarine, etc.

Leaverite
The joke between rockhounds is if you see a rock that seemingly has no value, you "Leave 'er right" there. However, I have found that many rocks are absolutely gorgeous when cut and polished. In fact, when out walking, I always look down at the rocks, and always find beauties amongst the uglies.
